The current deadline for promotion applications is 31 December in any season. It is necessary to have a deadline approximately half-way through the season in order to provide ample time for the necessary ground grading inspection process to take place.
This also allows the time for The FA to read through each application and ensure all relevant documentation has been submitted or liaise with Clubs to request further information. It also affords Clubs the time it needs to address any required planning permission for items such as floodlights, which are a requirement for promotion to Step 6.
